Development and Validation of a Rapid and Reliable HPLC-FLD Method for the Quantification of Ciprofloxacin and Enrofloxacin Residues in Zea mays

The accumulation of antibiotics by plants is a currently concern associated to yield reduction and transference antibiotic residues along the food web. Maize staple in many parts world; it also considered an important ingredient animal nutrition. Considering lack validated analytical methods for analysis ciprofloxacin (CIPRO) enrofloxacin (ENRO) shoot Zea mays maize, we developed reliable reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography method with fluorescence detection (HPLC-FLD). This was linearity, matrix effects, precision, accuracy, limits quantification (LOQ) (LOD), robustness. curves were linear coefficient determination (R2 ) 0.9907 CIPRO 0.9962 ENRO. LOD values 16.65 6.57 μg kg−1 ENRO, respectively, whereas LOQ 50.44 (CIPRO)and 19.92 (ENRO). HPLC-FLD displayed good precision accuracy. Therefore, proposed can be useful tool maize.
